DESIGNER – HARD GOODS
The SFERRA Hard Goods Designer is responsible for the creation of products through innovation based on aesthetics, SFERRA's rich heritage as well as the codes and values of the brand. The designer should exhibit knowledge of the company’s history and possess curiosity as well as a strong passion for creation, resulting in a contemporary aesthetic with a nod to our history while maintaining the integrity of the brand. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Creative/Design, the designer will conduct historical research, conceive, develop, design, and present projects that meet the needs of the business. The designer will be responsible for monitoring the technical development of their projects, working in conjunction with workshops and factories to ensure design intent is conveyed, properly understood, and executed in the finished goods.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
- Degree in product design, industrial design or a related field required
- 3-5 years of experience in hard goods design for the luxury industry.
- Work with the soft goods design team to interpret and translate main collection ideas into tangible hard goods products
- Must have well-established relationships with reliable global manufacturing partners
- Must be able to travel independently, if necessary.
- Passion for interior design/décor accompanied by a strong sense of creativity
- Ability to perceive and interpret trends for use in the practical design of hard goods
- Responsible for upholding design integrity, high-quality execution and timeliness throughout the entire process from concept through final production
- Strong knowledge of product design, manufacturing techniques, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings to appropriately monitor development in conjunction with workshops
- Excellent freehand/digital drawing skills, rendering techniques and/or proficiency in related necessary computer design programs
- Possess excellent organizational skills with a strong emphasis on attention to detail and follow-up
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, adapt quickly to change, and reprioritize when new problems or projects arise
- Must be flexible with the ability to work independently and handle multiple projects at once
- A strong work ethic with passion, curiosity, humility, and a willingness and desire to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
