Job Purpose
The Industrial Designer will work on compartment layouts using a 3D configurator. This position ensures the department gear, and tools are being stored efficiently in their respective compartments. This position includes working with 2D and 3D plans and often involves the modification of digital designs to ensure accuracy and quality.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Process customer preliminary designs or concepts of fire truck compartment configurations as quickly and accurately as possible
- Consult with customers to determine requirements for design
- Completing layouts and concepts in a timely manner
- Liaison with customers when required to ensure drawings and necessary information required to configure the compartments effectively and efficiently are accurate
- Ensure the departments gear and tools are stored efficiently with the best use of compartment space
- Participate in meetings with customer to understand the scope of the compartment configuration project to deliver effective solution
- Work with cross-functional teams to reduce costs and provide efficient solution
- Support training and development of fellow employees in pursuit of expanding knowledge
- Support business needs in current position and other departments as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design preferred
- Must be legally eligible to work in United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
- Willingness to undergo a background check and drug test
Qualifications And Experience
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, Inventor)
- Must be able to read blueprints and interpret drawing details
- Knowledge and/or experience in the sheet metal industry and fabrication is desirable, but not essential
- Possess strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate with multiple departments to ensure delivery and project dates are kept
- Must be proficient in MS Office applications
- Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Working conditions
- Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic)
- Ability to work in a confined area
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
- Light to moderate lifting is required
- Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate

Extra Information
- Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm training schedule (first 3-4 weeks)
- Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm regular schedule
- ONSITE Position
- Pay Rate - $24.00per hour
