Job Summary
VVater is seeking a highly skilled and creative Principal Industrial Designer to lead our industrial design team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in product design, a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to drive innovation. This role requires a visionary individual who can lead design projects from concept to completion, ensuring that our products are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and manufacturable.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the industrial design team in the development of innovative and functional product designs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and production, to ensure design feasibility and alignment with company goals.
Conduct user research and analyze market trends to inform design decisions and ensure product relevance.
Develop and present design concepts, sketches, and prototypes to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and iterating on designs as needed.
Oversee the creation of detailed design specifications and documentation for manufacturing.
Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Stay updated on the latest design trends, materials, and technologies, and integrate them into the design process.
Lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure the highest quality of design output.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and client meetings, showcasing our design capabilities and fostering relationships.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
Proven experience as an Industrial Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative and successful product designs.
Extensive knowledge of design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials.
Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Fusion360, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar tools.
Strong sketching and prototyping skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Creative problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and the ability to integrate them into the design process is a plus.
