Facilities Designer – Commercial / Industrial Buildings
Ferguson is seeking a design professional to lead the design and development of new industrial buildings. This individual will work within the Facilities Design group and team with internal associates and outsourced consultants to successfully design projects identified by Ferguson’s Real Estate team.
Location: This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid in
Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Support the Facilities Design initiative for Industrial Buildings (new construction, renovations, tenant improvements)
- Development of space requirements presented by departments within Ferguson
- Development of schematic design documentation for Ferguson’s facilities
- Develop and manage 3rd party design consultants during development of construction documents
- Maintain a cooperative and productive working relationship with all components of the Facilities Department
Other
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times ensuring quality customer service
- Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Support corporate programs, goals, and initiatives of the company
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design preferred but not required
- Professional registration preferred but not required
- 8+ years of experience working in the architectural or interiors fields
- Experience in Large Industrial projects preferred
- Experience in Design-Build delivery preferred
- Ability to interpret IBC requirements
- Extensive experience in construction document production
- Revit and AutoCAD proficiency
- Availability to travel for project coordination, team engagement, and training (10% of time)
- Coordinates with project management to avoid deviation from design intent
- Knowledge of functional analysis and space planning principles
- Effective communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

Pay Range:
Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
$6,000.30 - $13,016.30
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
