Position Summary

This role will develop innovative, future-facing product concepts across Samsung’s product categories, from current product development through to advanced design and new product archetypes. The role combines strong industrial design fundamentals with AI-enabled experiences, interaction thinking, storytelling and hands-on design execution. The Product Designer will translate user, cultural and technology insights into distinctive and meaningful product experiences, taking ideas from early research and concept development through to sketching, 3D CAD, prototyping, visualisation and presentation.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

·        Develop original product concepts based on user needs, lifestyle changes, cultural insights and emerging technologies.

·        Explore how AI, intelligent interaction and new technologies can create meaningful new relationships between people, products and services.

·        Translate research and insights into clear product opportunities, compelling design narratives and differentiated design concepts.

·        Develop strong product architecture, form, proportion, detail and signature design elements.

·        Maintain a high level of hands-on design capability throughout the full design process, from early concept through to final proposal.

·        Create and refine sketches, 2D concepts, 3D CAD, physical models, prototypes and high-quality visualisations.

·        Develop prototypes and demonstrations that clearly communicate product behaviour, interaction and user experience.

·        Consider materials, CMF, construction, mechanisms, manufacturing processes and technical feasibility in collaboration with relevant teams.

·        Work closely with UX, CMF, Engineering, Technology and Business teams to create coherent physical and digital product experiences.

·        Build clear and persuasive design presentations that connect insight, concept, user value and business relevance.

·        Present and communicate design proposals confidently across internal, HQ and cross-functional reviews.

·        Apply emerging design tools and workflows, including Generative AI, AI-assisted design, motion, real-time visualisation, interactive prototyping and creative coding, where appropriate.

·        Respond constructively to feedback and continuously improve the quality, clarity and resolution of design work.

·        Manage assigned work effectively against agreed project timelines and deliverables.

·        Collaborate actively with other designers and contribute ideas and support across studio projects.

·        Continuously develop new skills and share knowledge, tools and working methods within the team

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

·        Strong industrial/product design fundamentals, a clear understanding of Samsung’s latest design language and aesthetic direction, and a consistently high standard of execution.

·        Be able to interpret and apply Samsung’s design principles across different product categories, maintaining high quality in form, proportion, detail and overall product expression.

·        Move confidently between research, concept thinking and hands-on design, connecting insight with tangible and well-resolved design outcomes.

·        Curiosity, initiative and ownership, with the ability to independently develop ideas into convincing and high-quality product proposals.

·        Strong communication and collaboration skills and be comfortable working across different design disciplines, business functions and global teams.

·        An interest in AI, UX, interaction design and emerging technologies is increasingly important, together with the ability to understand how these technologies can create meaningful product experiences rather than simply being added as features.

·        Genuine curiosity and passion for design, drawing inspiration from everyday life, culture and technology, and continuously developing their creative perspective and skills.

·        Professional experience in industrial or product design, ideally within consumer electronics, mobile, home appliances, lifestyle products, furniture or related industries.

·        A BA, MA or equivalent professional experience in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline.

·        A strong portfolio demonstrating original concept development, refined form and proportion, attention to detail, and high-quality hands-on execution, with the candidate’s individual role and contribution clearly identified in collaborative projects.

·        Strong sketching, 3D CAD and product development skills, with the ability to develop ideas from early concept through to a well-resolved design proposal.

·        Experience developing physical prototypes, models and design mock-ups to explore and validate ideas.

·        Strong visualisation, storytelling and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate design intent clearly and convincingly.

·        A good understanding of materials, CMF, construction, manufacturing processes and technical feasibility.

·        Experience working in multidisciplinary and global teams, collaborating effectively across design, UX, engineering, technology and business functions.

·        Interest or experience in AI, UX, interaction design, motion and emerging digital design tools.

·        The ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively and consistently deliver high-quality work within agreed timelines.

Design & Technology Skills

·        Strong 3D CAD capability is essential and should be a natural part of the designer’s workflow.

·        Rhino is the primary CAD tool, with confident use of SolidWorks, NX or equivalent professional CAD software also required.

·        Adobe Creative Suite and PowerPoint are essential baseline tools for visual communication, storytelling and presentation.

·        Experience with KeyShot, Cinema 4D or equivalent visualisation and motion tools is expected, together with growing capability in Generative AI and AI-assisted tools for visualisation, image, animation and video.

·        Ability to combine CAD, visualisation, graphics, motion, AI and prototyping to communicate and execute concepts to a high standard.

What does success look like?

·        Successfully contribute to and independently develop high-quality product design proposals, demonstrating strong hands-on capability, ownership and design judgement.

·        Within the first 6–12 months, become a confident contributor to key projects, delivering work aligned with Samsung’s latest design language and quality standards.

·        Success will be measured through the quality of design outcomes, delivery against project milestones, individual contribution and constructive response to feedback.

·        Actively contribute to research, concept development, sketching, CAD, prototyping, visualisation, presentations and cross-functional collaboration as part of the day-to-day design process.

·        Demonstrate a positive, proactive and continuously learning mindset, bringing curiosity, initiative and collaboration while contributing new ideas and design opportunities to the team.
