About this role

My client is looking for a Contract Product Design Engineer to support the development of consumer products, combining creative thinking with practical engineering to deliver designs that perform well and are straightforward to manufacture.

All potential applicants are encouraged to scroll through and read the complete job description before applying.

This opportunity would suit a hands-on, curious engineer who enjoys developing ideas, building prototypes and understanding how things work. You’ll bring experience in product, mechanical or industrial design, alongside a passion for consumer goods or household appliances.

The role

Working across design, prototyping and testing, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and refining product concepts, producing 3D CAD models and technical drawings.
  • Supporting prototype builds and hands-on testing, using the results to identify improvements and resolve design challenges.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to balance product performance, usability, appearance and manufacturing requirements.
  • Supporting material selection and design-for-manufacture activities, considering quality, cost and production processes.

About You

My client is looking for someone with a practical approach to problem-solving, strong attention to detail and a willingness to get involved beyond the screen. You’ll have:

  • A degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related discipline.
  • Around 1–3 years’ experience in a product, mechanical or industrial design environment. Engineers with additional experience are also welcome to apply.
  • Experience in, or a strong interest in, consumer goods or household appliances.
  • The ability to communicate design ideas clearly and work collaboratively to solve engineering problems.

Knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes would be an advantage, but is not essential.

This is an opportunity to contribute to tangible products in a role that combines design work with practical development and testing
