About this role
THE POSITION Design Central is seeking a Product/Industrial Designer to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. If you are passionate about generating creative design across a wide range of clients both individually and within a team dynamic, this position is for you. This key role encompasses developing design solutions, teaming with other members, and coordinating with clients through positive work dynamics. The ideal individual will have an eye for good design, and the skill to bring design concepts to life through effective sketching, CAD development, and physical prototyping. The role requires in-person collaboration with all Design Central team members.
CORE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Collaborating with team members
- Concept sketching
- CAD development
- 3D renderings & visualization
- Physical prototyping
- Client presentation design
- Participate in client meetings in a professional, efficient, confident and effective manner.
- Be an active and reliable team member at Design Central.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Strong portfolio demonstrating problem-solving, good design, sketching ability, form development, manufacturing understanding, and a professional presentation of process and results
- Positive, flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic can-do attitude
- Ability to balance multiple projects
- Strong aesthetic sense
- Aptitude for mechanical development a plus
- Graphic sensitivity and experience with UI a plus
- Candidates should be self-motivated and results-oriented with personal drive
- Effective communicator
- Interest in the big picture and the views of others
- Desire for growth, improvement, and a goal of lifelong learning
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- B.S./B.A. in Product Design/ Industrial Design
- 0-4 years of experience
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software applications, preferably SolidWorks
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite software
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
