About NextShore

NextShore is a U.S.-based company specializing in product development, sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics for consumer brands across North America.

We work with customers and manufacturing partners to bring custom products from initial concepts through design, engineering, prototyping, and production.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly creative and technically capable Senior Industrial Designer to join our Mexico City team.

This person will work closely with company leadership to develop original product concepts, establish the creative direction of projects, and turn ideas into practical, manufacturable solutions.

The ideal candidate understands how products are built, can develop sophisticated 3D models, and has experience taking physical products from concept to production.

The Senior Industrial Designer will lead the design process and collaborate with an engineering team member responsible for detailed technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Concept Development

  • Collaborate with company leadership to define product concepts and design direction.
  • Translate customer requirements into creative, functional, and commercially viable product solutions.
  • Generate original ideas, sketches, design alternatives, and product concepts.
  • Develop compelling product presentations and visualizations.
  • Lead design refinement based on customer feedback, functionality, and manufacturing requirements.

3D Modeling & Product Development

  • Create high-quality 3D CAD models, assemblies, and product renderings.
  • Define product geometry, materials, finishes, and construction approaches.
  • Develop and refine products from initial concept through prototype evaluation.
  • Evaluate design alternatives based on aesthetics, functionality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Maintain design consistency throughout product development.

Engineering & Manufacturing Collaboration

  • Work closely with a Junior Engineer to translate approved concepts into detailed technical documentation.
  • Review engineering drawings and manufacturing files for consistency with the approved design.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and manufacturing partners on materials, processes, and production feasibility.
  • Evaluate prototypes, samples, and supplier feedback.
  • Identify design improvements that support manufacturing efficiency, quality, and cost objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of professional industrial design experience.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating original concepts, design development, and physical products.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • Excellent creative thinking, conceptualization, and design presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing products from concept through prototyping and production.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience designing products using plastics, metals, wood, and other materials.
  • Familiarity with injection molding, metal fabrication, CNC, and assembly processes.
  • Experience collaborating with international manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Experience developing custom products across different categories.
  • Ability to balance design quality, manufacturing feasibility, and commercial objectives.

What We're Looking For

We value creativity, technical understanding, and strong design judgment.

We're looking for someone who can take ownership of a product's creative development, challenge conventional approaches, and deliver solutions that are both visually compelling and practical to manufacture.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume and portfolio through LinkedIn.

Your portfolio should include examples of original concepts, 3D modeling, product development, prototypes, and completed physical products. Please identify your individual contributions to collaborative projects.
