The Role

The Watch Designer will contribute to the development of new watch collections and the evolution of existing product lines for Baume & Mercier, ensuring a strong alignment with the brand’s identity, creative vision, and positioning in the luxury watchmaking market. This role combines creative research, product design, and technical expertise, requiring the ability to translate innovative concepts into refined, feasible, and production-ready designs. The successful candidate will work closely with Product Development and external suppliers throughout the entire design process, from initial concept creation to final industrialization, ensuring the highest standards of aesthetics, quality, and technical execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creative Research & Product Vision: Research trends and develop collection concepts aligned with the brand’s DNA and market expectations.
  • Watch Design & Concept Development: Design watches consistent with Baume & Mercier’s identity, focusing on proportions, materials, details, and quality.
  • 3D Visualization & Design Communication: Create 3D renders, sketches, and presentations to communicate design concepts effectively.
  • Technical Development & Prototyping: Integrate technical constraints and coordinate prototyping to ensure accurate execution and timely delivery.
  • Industrialization & Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Development teams and suppliers to ensure seamless transition from concept to production.
  • Design Process Improvement: Improve the Design Studio’s tools, standards, and workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Product Design, Watch Design, or a related field.
  • Excellent proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop; knowledge of InDesign is a plus.
  • Strong command of KeyShot or equivalent 3D rendering software.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling software, with Rhino considered a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and technical constraints relevant to watch design and product development.
  • Creative & Aesthetic Sensitivity: Excellent eye for proportions, volumes, fine details, and the quality standards expected in luxury watchmaking.
  • Technical Understanding: Ability to balance creative ambition with industrial requirements, manufacturing processes, and product functionality.
  • Autonomy & Organization: Rigorous, proactive, and self-motivated, with strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
